PAIR OF FLAMBEAUX WITH WINGED FEMALE FIGURE
gilt bronze
Pair of six-light flambeaux, finely chased and mercury gilded in the Empire style. The bases consist of two bronze sculptures of winged victories, symbol of Imperial France. The figures perch on smooth domes that extend on a circular slab pedestal decorated with palm trees, terminating in a square, stepped base.
The victories hold two lights, finely decorated with floral and leafy elements, while three serpentine arms depart from a sphere positioned above the heads of the sculptures, culminating in chased and punched bobeches. The final light rises up above the sphere.
