PAIR OF APPLIQUES
carved and mecca-gilt wood
These branches – characterized by abundant phytomorphic elements that culminate in a wreath of roses under the bobeche – are of a size that indicates they may have been used as decoration for the entrance of a palazzo.
The use of mecca gilding and the very characteristic carving suggest they were manufactured in the Neapolitan area.
