ART DECÓ ORIENTAL RUG
wool and cotton
The Oriental rug we present here takes its compositional inspiration from the so-called Art Deco rugs inspired by Walter Nichols Rugs, distinguished by their elegance and unusual style. The main characteristics that set them apart from other types of rugs are their bright colors, thickness, and the silkiness of the wool from which they are made.
Hand-knotted in wool, our rug features a white cotton edging and an intense indigo border that encloses a crimson red field, decorated with a variety of floral sprigs: lotus flowers, peonies, chrysanthemums, and plum blossoms branch out delicately in the composition, symbolizing the four seasons. Among the furnishings, cloisonné vases, a teapot, vases with flowers, and an incense burner can be recognized, with echoes that recall the place of production.
