PAIR OF AEDICULES WITH ANGEL
poplar wood decorated with bronze angel
Pair of 16th-century poplar wood votive shrines, painted in polychrome, with gold finishes and finely sculpted. The frame is flanked by two twisted half-columns, culminating in gilded corinthian capitals that support the projecting architrave, and terminating on plinth bases. The half-columns rest on a background painted with faux polychrome marble breccia. Inside the shrine is a 20th-century bronze angel.
