WEDDING CHEST
Walnut wood
The front of the chest is organized in five compartments. The central one features a shield with scrolls; it is superimposed by a helmet and flourishes, the coat of arms of the family commissioning the chest. It is flanked by two panels decorated with stylized figures of harpies with phytomorphic elements inspired by grotesques, which were very fashionable in the period the item was made. The decoration is completed by two mascarons of the same type.
Urn-style lid, carved base, lion’s feet.
