PAIR OF HALF PILASTERS WITH CHERUBS
gilded and polychrome wood
Elegant pair of 16th-century half pilasters in sculpted and gilded wood, with elegant Corinthian capitals. The shafts, with their unusual pyramidal shape recalling Greek herms, are embellished with cherub heads that decorate the top part, while the central part is richly adorned with foliage and bunches of grapes. The non-contemporary bases are made from reworking a 17th-century frame.
