NUPTIAL CHEST
sculpted walnut with intaglio and intarsia decorations in poplar
The piece is characterized by a refined intarsia decoration with grotesque motifs, with two winged figures in the centre that present the coat of arms, replaced in the course of the centuries, of the family commissioning the piece. The strip with intarsia decoration is placed above a border with baccellato decoration in high relief, while the outer corners vaunt leaf motifs. The chest presents the so-called lion’s feet.
