MIRROR
carved and gilded wood
A large gilded mirror, it has a smooth rebate on a relief band carved with lanceolate, slightly overlapping and recurring leaves that extend towards the corners from the central nodes.
A smooth groove runs through a second band sculpted with acanthus leaves, facing outwards with raised curls to create movement. At the four corners are large outward-facing masks, with a medallion in the centre and culminating in acanthus leaves.
