MEDICEAN VASE

This vase belongs to the type of goblet-shaped crater known as the “Medici Vase”, named after the monumental 1st-century Greek example from the Tuscan family’s villa in Rome and now in the Uffizi.
Made from burnished bronze, this vase is decorated with gilt garlands that occupy the four sides of the plinth base.
