MONUMENTAL FRAME

The extraordinary dimensions and highly refined craftsmanship of this impressive Baroque frame indicate that it probably decorated one of the most important palazzos in Bologna. Crossing bands with bellflower motifs, three-dimensional sculpted details with ample acanthus scrolls with a specular ascendant development from the two sides to the point where they meet in a large cymatium with a leafy centrepiece.
