MONUMENTAL BOOKCASE
gilded and lacquered wood
Resembling the style of 16th century furniture, this monumental bookcase, made of lacquered and finely decorated wood and gilt with a floral motif, dates back to the 18th century. A fronton in the shape of a broken ellipse characterizes the top of the structure, together with half pilasters with Corinthian capitals in a pure Baroque style. In the middle of the upper frame lays a partially gilt angel’s head. The base is rectangular and the plinths of the columns are decorated with a gilt frame with a centered flower. The bookcase back is not of the same period.
