MARRIAGE CHEST

poplar wood veneered with walnut wood

The front of this chest consists of a central specchiatura, framed by fake moldings and linear inlays with a prospective toppo, and flanked by pilasters. The inlays suggest slight differences in depth in the otherwise flat front, like with the sides, which are decorated in the same manner. The base and the top of the chest, which was slightly modified over the centuries, are respectively enriched by tooth-wheeled inlays and by a frieze of linked prospective octagons.

There is an analytic study on this piece of furniture made by Simone Chiarugi.
