CIBORIUM WITH THE SAINTS PETER AND PAUL

The classical-style architectural construction of this ciborium with furrowed Ionian columns on tall plinths that support an architrave that – like the base – vaunts a projecting molded frame, is lavishly painted. In fact, the sides of the ciborium feature niches with paintings of the figures of Saint Peter and Saint Paul, wrapped in ample drapery and holding their characteristic key and sword. Every part of the piece is sumptuously decorated with racemes. In the center a small door, on which the figure of an Agnus Dei is still recognizable, opens to the compartment; also this is embellished by the same spiral-shaped decoration.
