On the occasion of Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, we are glad to present – in our gallery located in Via Maggio 40r, Florence \u2013 a window entirely dedicated to music. On view, it will be possible to see a comparison between two masterpieces, namely the work Natura morta con strumenti musicali<\/em> by the school of Evaristo Baschenis (Bergamo 1617 – 1677) and the work Vierge Fi\u00e8re Jouant du Violon Devant un Mur<\/em> (1974) by Arman.<\/p>\n

The lute shown in perspective in the 17th<\/sup> century painting and the score lying on the edge of the table appear as a unique composition of optical approach of Lombard painting that became popular in the Seventeenth century, combing a Caravaggesque use of light with a Baroque predilection for scenic views.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, the violin and bow by Arman lead us both to a reality of matter and to French Nouveau r\u00e9alisme from the \u201860s-70s. Through a musical instrument turned to sculpture, music is here materialized in the form of a fossil in concrete.<\/p>\n
