The hero\u2019s poweful anatomy contrasts with the lifeless body of the creature at his feet, while the richly adorned pedestal features decorative goat-head motifs and houses four Greek deities in ornate niches, framed by pilasters with caryatid busts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A fine example of the renowned Chiurazzi foundry\u2019s work, active in Naples between the 19th and 20th centuries, this piece reflects both the fortune of Cellini\u2019s work and the studio\u2019s specialization in casting bronze replicas of ancient sculptures.
