MONUMENTAL CABINET

Walnut wood, carved and sculpted.

Important Renaissance furniture piece, with an imposing architectural structure decorated by sculpted motifs. On the sides, the furrowed columns and pillars of Corinthian order support an architrave decorated by phytomorphic motifs alternated by geometric elements and dentils. The center features a cherub head with outstretched wings, the sides four ornamental small heads.

Cabinets of this kind served to store precious objects as tableware, illuminated codices and other valuable objects.
