CENTRE TABLE
Inlaid, sculpted and gilt wood; the top in various marble types is from a later period.
This imposing item features, on both sides, fronts characterized by a rich scrolled frieze centred by female heads. The diagonal orientation of the robust legs of the table, which culminate in the centre in feral protomes with wide open gaps, is echoed by the shaped form of the top. The diagonal crosspieces, characterized by their sinuous development with facing scrolls, meet in the centre in a turned pinnacle.
